PARK OPERATIONS DURING COVID-19
Effective: July 11, 2020 – until further notice
As of July 11, 2020, staff will be stationed outside the Park’s Visitor Centre to welcome visitors between 11:00 am and 4:00 pm Atlantic Time daily. Staff will be able to answer any questions about the grounds and historic buildings, and direct guests to the schedule of programs which will operate daily:
- Outdoor Walking Tour of the Historic Buildings and Grounds: 11:30 am and 1:30 pm Atlantic Time daily.
- Guided Hike in the Natural Area: 1:30 pm Atlantic Time daily.
The beautiful 2,800 acres of Natural Area, cottage grounds, carriage roads, and trails system remain open to the public. The historic cottage buildings, including the Roosevelt Cottage and the Prince Café, as well as other programs, such as Eleanor’s Tea, are not open to the public in 2020 due to concerns about visitor and staff safety. The restrooms in the Visitor Centre are open to the public.
Visitors are warmly welcomed to visit Roosevelt Campobello International Park and Campobello Island via the Campobello-Deer Island car ferry, which resumed operation on June 15, 2020. The ferry departs Deer Island Point (8:30 am to 6:30 pm) and Welshpool (9:00 am to 7:00 pm) on an hourly schedule; more information, including fares and schedules, is available at eastcoastferriesltd.com or by calling (506) 747 2159. Visitors are expected to follow all travel guidelines and public health restrictions which are currently in place in New Brunswick, and to practice physical distancing at all times while on Park property. Travel from the mainland United States, via the FDR Memorial Bridge in Lubec, Maine, is not currently permitted under Canada-U.S. travel restrictions.
